AreYouSure? is designed to help prevent accidental clicks on sensitive web actions.

Summary

• No account is required.
• No analytics or telemetry is collected by the extension.
• No personal data is sold.
• Data is stored locally in your browser profile via Chrome/Edge extension storage (chrome.storage.sync), and optionally in backup files you choose to download.

What Data Is Processed

The extension stores only configuration and usage data needed for its features, such as:

• Protected site origins (for example, https://example.com)
• Element selectors and optional labels/descriptions for protected rules
• Rule settings (enabled/disabled, confirmation style)
• Rule counters (for example, hit count)
• Global settings (theme, backup preferences, UI preferences, last backup timestamp)

The extension does not intentionally collect sensitive form values, passwords, payment data, or message contents.

Where Data Is Stored

• Primary storage: chrome.storage.sync
• Optional user-exported backups: JSON files saved to your Downloads folder (or your selected backup folder path)

Because chrome.storage.sync is a browser-provided sync feature, data may sync across your signed-in browser profiles according to your browser account settings.

Network Activity

The extension does not send your rule/configuration data to a developer-operated server.

External links (for example, donation/contact links) may open in a new browser tab only when you click them.

Permissions and Why They Are Needed

• contextMenus: add the “Protect this element” right-click action
• storage: save your rules and settings
• alarms: run scheduled auto-backups
• downloads: save exported backup files
• host_permissions: <all_urls>: allow protection rules to work on sites you choose

User Control

You can at any time:

• Enable/disable rules per site
• Delete rules and site bundles
• Export data (backup)
• Import data
• Clear extension data from browser extension settings/storage

Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed to children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated when features or compliance requirements change. The latest version is the one included in the extension repository and release materials.
